October 31 is the last day for visitors traveling by vehicle to enter and drive through all of Yellowstone National Park.
The United States National Park Service said it is closing the majority of Yellowstone to all regular vehicle traffic beginning November 1.
The park will stay quiet until mid-December when NPS begins letting in travelers on snowmobiles and snowcoaches.
“The park annually closes roads at this time of year to prepare them for the winter season,” NPS said.
The Park Service clarified that the communities surrounding the park will stay open and are open year-round.
The only roads in Yellowstone itself that are open all year long are those “between the North Entrance in Gardiner, Montana, and the Northeast Entrance in Cooke City/Silver Gate, Montana,” NPS said.
Yellowstone National Park is famous for being the first protected area in the world to be declared a national park.
