Colorado Parks and Wildlife has suspended mule deer muzzleloader hunting in Piñon Canyon, siting the US federal government shutdown.

Per CPW’s press release: “All hunting on Fort Carson and the Piñon Canyon Maneuver Site continues to be suspended due to the federal government shutdown. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be offering a full refund and a preference point restoration to affected license holders for the upcoming mule deer muzzleloader season, Saturday through Oct 19 in Piñon Canyon.”

The agency warns that other big game hunting may be impacted depending on how long the government shutdown lasts.
