A popular Gulf of Mexico seaside nature center drew in record crowds in 2025.
The US National Park Service reports that Gulf Islands National Seashore attracted more than 7.5 million visitors last year.
The park features Gulf Coast scenery and historic artifacts that date back to the American Civil War.
“The largest seashore in the United States of America managed by the National Park Service provides visitors the opportunity to experience preserved 19th and 20th century military architecture, secluded beaches, and many natural and cultural resources,” the Park Service says on its website.
NPS says the attendance record was broken despite a prolong federal government shutdown last year that furloughed thousands of federal workers.
